- Document troubleshooting methods pertaining to network and *nix server problems
- Configure and manage *nix server software such as iptables, shorewall, dhcp3d, samba, snmpd, postfix, sendmail, subversion, rsync, unison, postgres, mysql, etc.
- Assist in the development of hardware/software standards and configurations
- Maintain servers with latest security patches and hot fixes required
- Use server management tools and maintain distributed Nagios
- Troubleshoot the servers for any escalating problems
- Maintain computer and software inventories in real-time and relocation of hardware and software
- Inform Managers of any potential problems
- Other duties as assigned
- 2-4 years experience in *nix administration required
- Knowledge of SQL a plus
- Scripting skills in python, perl, or ruby
- Must know VI
- Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical solutions
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to multi- task
- Must have a professional demeanor and able to provide excellent customer service and follow-up
- Ability to perform at the highest level in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
